#NEWS: The European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP) has adopted positive opinions for our avian influenza vaccines VAXXITEK® HVT+IBD+H5 and VAXXINACT® H5. Both vaccines immunize birds against the H5 avian influenza virus that is currently causing outbreaks across Europe. While the decision to vaccinate rests with the national authorities of each country, this marks an important step to increase preparedness against avian influenza in Europe. Let’s talk about healthcare innovation in Germany. Yesterday, the Pharma and MedTech Strategy Dialogue kicked off at the Federal Chancellery - a promising step toward strengthening Germany’s position as a global leader in healthcare. As a company committed to developing treatments that make a real difference in patients' lives, we know how critical it is to have national policies that support and reward medical innovation. The dialogue is a step in the right direction. We welcome the German government’s recognition of the pharmaceutical industry’s role in shaping the future of healthcare and there’s no time to lose. Germany is falling behind in competitiveness. Patients wait up to three years longer to get access to innovative therapies compared to countries like the US, China or Japan. This delay occurs because the system does not allow for early recognition of promising therapies based on preliminary data from early trials, where innovation could already demonstrate significant potential to address unmet medical needs. This barrier to progress undermines the country’s ambition to lead in healthcare innovation. A comprehensive, innovation-friendly Pharma Strategy and meaningful reform of the AMNOG process - one that acknowledges medical evidence and rewards innovation - are essential to achieving this vision.
