A large, vintage alarm clock is prominently featured in the center of the image, with a classic round face displaying Roman numerals. The clock has two bells on top and a winding key. The background is an abstract explosion of colors, including blues, pinks, and yellows, creating a dynamic and energetic atmosphere. Overlaying the image is bold text that reads "My March and April in WordPress," emphasizing the theme of time and reflection.

My March And April in WordPress

My March and April in WordPress started focused on helping with 6.8. This release turned out to be fairly smooth, in large part due to the community of folks who helped test beforehand. As often is the case, some folks waited until the general release to start testing which meant that a few bugs needed attention right away and led me to leading 6.8.1

In addition to 6.8.1, my other focus has been on the questions surrounding releases of WordPress. I first participated in and then assisted with the publication of the notes from a call between core committers and project leadership. With the change to the release cadence, I also shared my thoughts on what should go into 6.8 minor releases.

With the change in the release cadence, I’m hoping to spend more time on scrubbing tickets and helping others contribute by improving documentation and providing feedback. Even though major releases are going to happen less frequently, there is still plenty of work to be done.

By the numbers

During these two months, I contributed to 80 tickets on trac, made 28 commits to core, received 16 props, led one minor release, wrote 2 make/core posts, and led four bug scrubs.

I had 22 sponsors these months: Jeffrey Paul, philipjohn, Zach Stepek, Keanan Koppenhaver, George Mamadashvili, Russell Heimlich , Austin Ginder, Adam Silverstein, Felix Arntz, Jonathan Desrosiers, Brian Coords, mklute101, Emily Rapport, Tim Nash, Jay Hoppie, Dan Knauss, Weston Ruter, Kevin Cristiano, Kinsta, Jake Spurlock, Andy Fragen and one who wishes to remain anonymous. Thank you for believing in and supporting my contributions to Open Source.
